EDI Face seal EIFS vs MD Cladding Details

This power point presentation compares the historical (Barrier) PB-EIFS to the MD-EIFS with a drainage plane and drainage provision at the bottom of the walls.

As discussed previously, the drainage plane can be 2 layers of black paper meeting ASTM requirements, a house wrap with drainage wrinkles in the wrap (for hard coat stucco many jurisdictions require a second sacrificial layer of paper over the house wrap) or a liquid applied membrane.

Drainage can be created in several different manners some of which include the weep screed, weep casing, starter track and drip strip.

Note: some of the slides use the term MRB = Moisture Resistive Barrier which has been changed to be WRB which has stood for both Weather Resistive Barrier and Water Resistive Barrier.  All three terms have been used to indicate the material creating the drainage plane.
