This section will cover the several different types of systems that make up EIFS. There’s also a video demonstrating one manufacturer’s installation process at the end of this section. The types of EIF Systems and Portland Cement Stuccos we will be discussing in this chapter are:
- PB – Polymer Based EIFS
- Original name of system now commonly called Barrier EIFS or Face Seal EIFS.
- Original PB-EIFS is no longer permitted on Moisture Sensitive Substrates.
- Original PB-EIFS is still permitted on Non-Moisture Sensitive Substrates such as concrete and Masonry
- PM – Polymer Modified EIFS
- DA or DEFS – Direct-Applied or Direct Exterior Finish System
- Portland Cement Stucco or Hard Coat Stucco (HCS) include:
- OCS – One Coat Stucco
- Three Coat Stucco or Traditional Stucco
- Polyisocyanurate or Poly Iso or PI-EIFS included a brand called Quik-R
- MD-EIFS – Moisture Drainage – Exterior Insulation Finish System
- ICF – Insulated Concrete Forms
