This section provides basic details for the various EIFS and Hard Coat Stucco systems with illustrations, drawings, and technical notes.
- The PB-EIFS details are from the EIMA Class PB-EIFS Details published January 1997.
- The PM details are a couple of typical generic details about Control Joints and expansion joints; see manufacturer’s installation specifications for more information.
- The OCS details are very limited; again, see the manufacturer’s installation specifications for more information. If you do not know the OCS manufacturer, then, we suggest obtaining the North West Wall And Ceiling Bureau Stucco Resource Guide © for more information.
- The Direct Applied (DA) or DEFS details are generic and limited; again, see the manufacturer’s installation specifications for more information.
- For MD-EIFS obtain the specific specifications and details from the Manufacturer of the product on the building. I would be wise to have generic details for MD-EIFS; these can be purchased from the EIMA website, eima.com. The document is “Guide to EIFS with Drainage Detailing”
- The final Topic in this section is a Comparison of the PB-EIFS (Barrier-EIFS or Face Sealed-EIFS) to MD-EIFS. This is a series of slide shown side by side of Barrier vs Moisture Drainage considerations.
Inspectors would be wise to start to collect installation manuals and specifications for various EIFS and stucco manufacturers to create your own library. These will be invaluable when it comes time to research the specific manufacturer details that were applicable at the time the property was built.
