Typical Hard Coat Stucco Lath Types
- Self-furring galvanized diamond lath:
- 5 or 3.4 pounds per square yard
- ASTM A847
- Wire Fabric
- Galvanized self-furring woven wire lath 17 gauge
- 1 ½ inch openings

- Galvanized self-furring welded wire lath, 16-gauge wire with openings not more than 2” by 2”

Basic Lath Installation rules over wood framing:
- Long dimension of sheets or rolls shall be installed horizontally (perpendicular to framing).
- Apply lath taut and bend lath around corners.
- Lap splices in lath a minimum of 2 inches (varies).
- Lath should fully cover accessory flange.
- Use appropriate corrosion resistant fasteners with plates as appropriate with a target density of 1 per square foot.
- Penetrate wood framing a minimum of ¾” to 1”; typically, at 6 or 7 inches on center (check with local code).
- Recommend fastener engage at least three strands of lath.
Traditional or Hard Coat Stucco: scratch, brown and base coat considerations.
- Mix per manufacturer’s specifications.
- Do not use frozen materials.
- Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces.
- Wall surfaces must be clean.
- Do not apply in direct sunlight on hot days.
- Maintain wall surface above 35 degrees F for 24 hours following applications.
- Moist or fog cure for 2 to 3 days; depending on weather.
- Allow walls to cure prior to applying finish.
Finish Coat installation considerations.
- Mix and apply finish coat per manufacturers’ specifications.
- Do not use frozen materials.
- Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces.
- Wall surfaces must be clean d cured.
- Do not apply in direct sunlight on hot days.
- Maintain wall surface above 40 degrees F for 24 hours following applications.
- Install sealant per Manufacturer’s installation instructions.
