Example of a Proprietary Manufacturer’s Short Form Specification

Short Form Specifications follow an American Institute of Architects (AIA) MasterSpec Format.  Short Form Specifications covers 7 sections and may average a total of 6 pages. The 7 sections are as follows:

  1. Product or system name
  2. Manufacturer name, address and phone number
  3. Description of the product or system
  4. Technical data
  5. Installation of the product or system
  6. Availability
  7. Warranty

A Short Form Specification may contain one or more detail drawings. These short form documents are often employed by architects or specification writers when approving products or systems for construction projects.  See image below for an example of a Short Form Specification.
